Evaluating Binol-aldehyde as a Chiral Derivatizing Agent for Diamines

We have synthesized and tested a new binolaldehyde compound 1, against five diamine compounds. Using H NMR (400 MHz) spectroscopy, stable diasteriomeric imine complexes between 1 and five diamines were formed. Chemical shift nonequivalences (up to 0.058 ppm) were obtained for imines. Linear calibration plot was obtained for determining the enantiopurity of diamines.

Synthesis and structural characterization of BINOL-modified chiral polyoxometalates.

Chiral ligand-modified polyoxometalates (POMs) were successfully synthesized by the introduction of BINOL into the dititanium-substituted POM in an organic medium and characterized by X-ray crystallography, spectroscopy, and elemental analyses. These BINOL-modified POMs were stable in the solution state and showed catalytic activity for asymmetric oxidation of thioanisole.

A versatile synthesis of chiral β-aminophosphines.

A method for the preparation of chiral β-aminophosphines having substituted P-aryl groups is described. Ring-opening of cyclic sulfamidates with metal diarylphosphinites yields β-aminophosphine oxides, which are then reduced to the corresponding phosphines. Effects of the diarylphosphinite countercation on the regioselectivity of the ring-opening reaction (P- versus O-alkylation) are discussed....
